Richmond County Court Dockets

Richmond County court records, Georgia, are available through several channels. RichmondCourt.us allows searching for public information about court cases in the county. Additionally, the official online tools of Augusta-Richmond County, the clerk's office, and public terminals in the courthouse provide access to case records, hearing schedules, and court documents.

Richmond Court System & Jurisdictions

Augusta-Richmond County is a consolidated city-county government, so the court system here operates somewhat differently than in most Georgia counties.

Superior Court handles the most serious cases:

  • Criminal felony cases
  • Civil lawsuits with no monetary limit
  • Divorce, custody, and alimony cases
  • Appeals from lower courts
  • Real estate property cases

Clerk of Superior, State, and Juvenile Court maintains the registry of all these cases and serves visitors in person.

State Court focuses on less serious criminal cases — misdemeanors, traffic violations, and civil lawsuits. Traffic fines can be paid online through the clerk's website.

Magistrate Court is the first point of contact for many residents. It issues arrest and search warrants, conducts preliminary hearings in criminal cases, and handles civil claims up to $15,000 (including small claims). Eviction proceedings also start here.

Juvenile Court has jurisdiction over cases involving minors: offenses, dependency, and termination of parental rights. Records from this court are generally closed to public access.

Probate Court deals with wills, estate management, guardian appointments, and marriage licenses. This court also handles involuntary hospitalization and some traffic offenses.

Richmond Court Calendar & Upcoming Hearings

To find out which cases are scheduled for today, tomorrow, or this week, use the Case Management Search system on Augusta's official website. Enter the party's last name or case number — the system will show hearing dates and case status.

For Superior Court cases, an additional tool is available through the Georgia state portal E-Access to Court Records, where Richmond Superior Court is among the available jurisdictions. A user account is required for searching.

Step-by-step instructions for checking the schedule:

  1. Go to the Case Management Search page.
  2. Enter the last name or case number.
  3. Select the type of court (Superior, State, Magistrate).
  4. In the search results, find the section with scheduled hearing dates.

If online search yields no results, call the clerk's office or visit the courthouse in person — public terminals are available during business hours.

How to Get a Copy of a Richmond Court Document

Court document copies come in two types: uncertified and certified. A certified copy bears the clerk's seal and has legal force — it is required for submission to other courts, government agencies, or immigration procedures. An uncertified copy is suitable for personal review.

Online: Some documents can be viewed through Case Management Search, but obtaining certified copies usually requires contacting the clerk in person or by mail.

In person: Visit the clerk's office in the courthouse:

Through an open records request: Augusta offers an online portal for open records requests in accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70). This channel is suitable for obtaining police reports, arrest reports, and other documents from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Forms for attorneys needing expanded access to the case management system are available on the clerk's forms page.

Restrictions: Juvenile cases, adoption records, and some family matters are closed to the public. Sealed or expunged records are also unavailable without a court order.
